Five essential tools that a grant manager should have in their toolbox are:

  • People skills: the ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Time management skills: the ability to stay on track and meet grant deadlines
  • Listening skills: the ability to clearly understand the passion that drives the organization
  • Finance and budgeting skills: the ability to understand the financial requirements of a project
  • Writing skills: the ability to pull together all this information and write a concise, compelling and competitive grant proposal.
